The ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification, the ACA, is highly respected and valued in businesses around the world as one of the most advanced professional qualifications available.
This qualification will require you to complete at least three years of on-the-job training while passing a series of exams. The ACA is divided into four key elements, which will provide you with a combination of finance knowledge, accountancy skills, and real world business experience. They are:
Practical work experience in a relevant area (such as accounting, audit, tax, financial management or insolvency) with an ICAEW authorised training employer
15 exam modules covering a broad range of topics
Professional development and skills
Ethics and professional scepticism

The ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business qualification, provides a gateway into finance, accounting and business, covering all the keys skills and essential knowledge you need for a career as a finance professional. Recognised by organisations all over the world, the CFAB is ideal for anyone who works, or wants to work, in business or practice.
The CFAB is a stand-alone qualification in its own right, and also opens the door to progress to the prestigious ACA qualification and becoming a chartered accountant.
The CFAB involves six modules, covering a range of topics to give you a complete grounding in finance and accounting fundamentals:
Accounting
Assurance
Business, technology and finance
Law
Management information
Principles of taxation
Recognised and respected around the world, the ACA qualification comprises six exams which build on the fundamentals and will test your ability to use technical knowledge in real-life scenarios.
The six ACA exams are computer based, and can be taken in March, June, September and December, covering the following professional level topics:
Audit and assurance
Business strategy and technology
Financial management
Financial accounting and reporting (UK GAAP)
Tax compliance
Business planning: taxation
The Advanced Level consists of three papers, available to sit twice a year in July and November as computer based written exams:
Corporate reporting
Strategic business management
Case study
The corporate reporting and strategic business management exams are designed to test your understanding and strategic decision-making at a senior level – based on real life scenarios.
The case study presents a complex business issue, testing your ability to problem solve, identify ethical implications and provide an effective solution based on the knowledge, skills and experience you’ve gained.
